This 1940's, four bedroom, Adirondack village cottage, located on Lakeview
Avenue in the Village of Caroga Lake is inviting as soon as you walk onto
the deck, through the wooden screen door and into the fully equipped kitchen.
As the name of the avenue implies, you can watch the waves of West Caroga
Lake from the screened-in front porch. The beach is within a few hundred
feet of the cottage, and don't worry, your coffee will not cool as you
walk down to the waters edge to experience the calm morning stillness and
the lake waking up. There is plenty of room for guests to enjoy quiet moments,
family gatherings or several simultaneous group conversations. The back
yard extends well beyond the sprawling deck and has plenty of room for
bocce, horse shoes or croquet, as well as plenty of lawn for the children
to play and enjoy the wooden swing set. There is gas and electric heat
for chilly evenings. This cottage is so cozy, it is even friendly on rainy
days. |

Even with only one bathroom, the cottage can sleep seven comfortably,
nine without inconvenience and eleven with a few adjustments. One bedroom
has a queen size bed, one has a double bed, one has a single bed and
the fourth bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds. The living
room couch folds out into a double bed.
The camp comes equipped with an electric stove, full size refrigerator,
coffee maker, television (local stations only) VCR, radio/CD player,
gas grill, pots, pans, dishes, cups, glasses, silverware (including plastic),
paper plates and cups, napkins, salt, pepper, tea, coffee (regular and
decaf), sugar, beach towels, numerous bath towels, sheets, blankets,
dish soap, outdoor folding chairs that you can bring to the water's edge,
etc. etc. There are plenty of essentials that you can leave home. It
is important to bring a phone card as the telephone only has local service
and to remember that in most areas of the Adirondacks, cell phones do
not work. The cottage has beach access that is maintained by the neighborhood
beach association, so bring your suntan lotion, favorite book, and swim
suits. We also supply you with Old Maid, Scrabble, Clue, Trivial Pursuit
and other family games. Don't leave home without your hiking boots, canoes,
kayaks, playful spirit, fishing poles, child-like curiosity, snorkeling
gear, bicycles and entire family. Stay at this classic lake cottage to
enjoy and experience the lakes, forests, streams, mountains, freshest
air, bluest sky and breathtaking sunsets of the ancient Adirondack Mountains.

The Village of Caroga Lake has a Laundromat, a supply store, gas station,
many fine and casual eating and drinking establishments, live music most
weekends throughout the summer, a golf course and a soft ice cream stand.
Many of these places are within an easy walking distance of the cottage.
Caroga Lake is 20 minutes from the antique and boutique shops in Gloversville
and Johnstown and 35 minutes from those in Mayfield and Perth. Local
yard sales are in abundance all summer long. The specialty and antique
stores of Little Falls, Dolgeville, Herkimer, Northville and Wells are
within an hour's drive. Saratoga Springs has summer
long entertainment at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, downtown pubs and
bistros,
and the Spa Little Theatre in the Park. With the harness and race tracks within
50 miles of the cottage, a day at the races is almost a must. Arrive early
at the track for breakfast, enjoy the ambiance of the morning hours before
the first race, stay until the last one, and if you skip the night life of
Saratoga, you will be home to watch the sun set over Caroga Lake. Attending
any of the professional and innovative performances staged at The Alice Busch
Opera Theater during the Glimmerglass Opera Summer Festival are well worth
the drive through the beautiful Mohawk Valley and the green rolling hills of
Otsego County. In a little over hour, you are immersed in the beauty of the
grounds and the theater, and the excitement of the pre-performance gathering.
If you arrive early, bring a picnic or purchase delicious food and beverages
from the concession stands outside the theater.
The Adirondack mountains, lakes, trails, streams and roadways offer
you the space to reconnect with your dreams, your family and yourself.
Slow time down, ease into your morning cup of coffee and follow the Great
Blue Heron as it flies across the lake. Find your peace by the lake this
summer.
